Chicago Part 3: Saying goodbye to our Chicago, Lemont, and Streamwood families!

Monday, 24th July

Our final day!

“Let brotherly love continue.”

Hebrews 13:1

An early start (7am train from Streamwood!) at the Downtown Chicago meeting hall for those wanting to do more sightseeing. But first, enjoying the Lord together!
And continued enjoyment throughout the day! Spring up in us all day, Lord Jesus!

Some of us visited China Town and had KFC = Korean Fried Chicken.

In Ping Tom Memorial Park.

Others of us stayed local to Streamwood and Schaumburg and hung out with one of our hosts.

We went to the mall, Trader Joes, and “Targé.”

Lunch at Chick-fil-A – third time for some of us, first time for others.

Part of the coordinating team that stayed in Streamwood (missing three of the saints who stayed in Chicago, and one who’d already returned home).

We experienced being part of God’s flock and all need one another!
(Chick-fil-A cups say, “Tha Hurd Needz U”)

It was a privilege and joy to serve the Lord and all the saints these past few months. Thank you to the students and our fellow serving ones and all the other saints for all the mutual shepherding!

It was quite a bittersweet moment saying goodbye to the dear saints who have really welcomed us and cherished us and ministered Christ to us in such a Jesusly human way in the Chicago Metro Area. And hopefully we also to them!

“Do not forget hospitality, for through this some, without knowing it, have entertained angels.”

Hebrews 13:2

On both sides, we really experienced this verse, which one of our hosts brought up. There were tears shed when we said goodbye!

And finally, it was time for the big groups to depart! There were 25 of us on the 6pm flight, and 18 of us on the 9.15pm flight, with others scattered throughout the day.

But it was good to be traveling together with the saints.

Quite a lot of saints! With a few bonus saints from Europe on our flight also 🙂
The 9.15pm flight was a double decker plane, it was huge!

Some of us were on the upper deck, and some on the lower deck.

The flight departed an hour late, but it was a smooth and short flight, and we landed safely in Heathrow only 26 minutes late.

Reunited again on the way to passport control and baggage claim.

Reunited also with family members who came to pick some of us up! And yes, maybe we could have taken one final picture altogether, but we didn’t 🙂

We are heading home now to various parts of London and the UK. Ready to catch up on a little sleep before many of us see one another again this weekend in Poland for the EYPC!
We are also back home on familiar roads in Norway!

We’ll catch up on posting (backdated) the East Coast (Northerners) trip and also the end of the SoCal trip 🙂 and maybe have a few bonus follow-up posts also.

Thank you saints for following along with us these past 3.5 weeks! We have been encouraged by your messages and greetings, and also strengthened and supplied by your prayers!

Thank you also to all the wonderful saints who have hosted us and shown us more of the universal Body of Christ! We will see you again!

We love you saints!

“We know that we have passed out of death into life because we love the brothers.”

– 1 John 3:14a

“That which we have seen and heard we report also to you that you also may have fellowship with us, and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.”

-1 John 1:3
