East Coast (Northerners): Day 14 – Exploring and blending in Boston!

Monday, 24th July

We went out to explore the city at 9am, taking the van to the T station.

The T is the train system they use in Boston, similar to the underground in London with different coloured lines, but much less complicated.

Our first stop for the day was Harvard!

We began the day with Peet’s Coffee (we were still a bit tired from yesterday’s travels) where some of us bought drinks to start the day with a boost. Coffee shops here tend to have their own special drinks!

Left: Horchata Cold Brew Oat Latte; Right: Wild Berry Hibiscus Iced Tea.

We then took a stroll around the Harvard campus and also checked out the Harvard merch stores.

Selfie with John Harvard.

Group pic at the gate! A sister who had to leave early also joined us for the picture via FaceTime.

Lots and lots of Harvard merch at their own university store.

Afterwards we took the T to check out H-Mart and bought some snacks, then went to Quincy Market for lunch.

Sadly none of us got any pictures inside of the H-Mart, but there were tons of great snacks and a small food court inside too.

We arrived at Quincy Market! Some of us were really hungry at this point, so it was a real relief to get lunch.

Clam Chowder Bread Bowl (Personal Rating: 10/10)
Lobster Roll (Very fresh, also 10/10)
More food enjoying pics!

Some Boston saints also came and joined us for lunch and also to show us around the city!

They had an ice cream shop there too! America really has impressive portion sizes, it was a huge scoop.

The bros went into the Boston merch store and tried on the different hats

One of the bros also got changed into the Harvard merch he had bought.

We then left the market and went to explore further into the city centre of Boston.

A few of us were very energised after eating

At this point we split off into two different groups, one group of us cycled into the city and the other group took off on foot.

Both groups got their own perspective of the city.

Cycling group: Squirrel taming success.

Walking group: Looked inside a second-hand bookshop and saw a bit more of the main city in an attempt to find a coffee shop to sit in.

Later on we met up again with the rest of the group back at Quincy Market but had to say our goodbyes to a couple of the sisters as they both were returning back to the UK that evening.

Very cute byebye video because they didn’t make it to say bye in person 🙁

We got a little time to walk around more in Quincy Market, and just to mention – Boston is known for their seafood so they had a lot of seafood related merch here.

We then set off back to one of the saints’ house for dinner. Two sisters went to another saint’s home for dinner that evening but the rest of us gathered in one home with some of the Boston saints.

We spotted an “Americow.”

Made a quick pit stop at a 7/11 to buy some drinks and bits and bobs for the home meeting on the way back too.

At the home meeting we had Moqueca, a Brazilian dish, for dinner and sang some hymns together. It was really sweet to be able to blend and enjoy the Lord with the Boston saints!

Singing hymn 628 together – we also taught the saints some of the new NACT songs too!

Student selfie after the meeting 🙂

“That which we have seen and heard we report also to you that you also may have fellowship with us, and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.”
