California Part 2: Day 11 – Los Angeles

Monday 10th July

Breakfast with our hosts in Santa Ana and brothers from Argentina who were staying here during the Semiannual Training. So sweet to hear one another’s testimonies even though we speak different languages!
Morning enjoyment and fellowship at Santa Ana meeting hall.

How we love to sing with our spirit and heart to You!

No longer we that liveth!

Picking up lunch from a plaza; a lot of us went to Chipotle. Then we saved it until we arrived at…
Lake Hollywood Park!
Did someone say Hollywood? (The 30-minutes-to-hike group.)
All 37 of us (and a local saint or two) at Lake Hollywood Park. We’re getting to know one another also!

Praise the Lord!

Next stop, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams…
…in Beverly Hills!

Then to UCLA to visit the saints who gave us a campus tour!

We had a treat seeing the Bruins roar!

And saw the saints who had a table for orientation week. This is like our Freshers Fairs in the UK, but they happen at this time of year with the incoming freshmen already coming to college to see what societies they want to get involved in.

The UK saints sang, “Therefore with joy,” and, “Therefore the redeemed of the Lord,” next to the table. The campus staff were very kind to let us finish our two songs before we were asked to move along! There is a limit to how many people can represent each club 🙂

We have seven vehicles – lots to coordinate! Different vehicles drove through either Chick-fil-A or In-N-Out on our way to Palisades Park.

At least, that was the plan! 😉 (But we are learning to say, “Amen!”)

We ended our day catching the sun going down over Santa Monica, joined by some local saints from LA..
The colours were so pretty, and then the stars came out!

It made for very cool backgrounds recording the rest of our Top Enjoyment from the July Semiannual Training (see if you can recognise where we filmed each time)!

May the Lord shine brightly in all of us the rest of this week!

We spent a fair amount of time in the cars today, but did manage to avoid awful traffic in LA! (Especially by waiting till after sunset before we left the area.) We felt like we did SO much today – the morning felt like a week ago!

Jet lag was catching up with some of us on our way home though, and we were happy to arrive back with our Santa Ana hosts and have a good sleep!

“That which we have seen and heard we report also to you that you also may have fellowship with us, and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.”
